Traveller's Tapestry by Cantigas

Travellers' Tapestry Move MD 3153 (1994)

This anthology is inspired by the Medieval centres of bater and exchange grouped along the busy trade routes, reflecting the gathering together of people not only from Europe but also Asia and the Middle East, and the resulting exchange of musical cultures and ideas. Includes instrumental arrangements of Mauchaut, Cantigas de Santa Maria, pieces from Tibet, Syria, Japan, Germany, France, Spain and Constantinople performed on recorder, medieval stringed instruments and percussion.

...intricate rhythmic support, and bright, individual instrumental colours will attract everyone, interested in early music or not... a nicely balanced sequence of subtle, individual and very satisfying miniatures...
