Composer Philip Wood was born in 1972 in Morley near Leeds. He studied music and drama at Northhampton, UK. His music has been played by various distinguished performers. 

The Partita for recorder and cello was composed in 2002 and first performed by John Turner and Jonathan Price, the work's dedicatees in Salford cathedral on 6th May 2003 as part of the Salford MayFest Festival.
