*Contemporary Cantata*

Robin Walker was born in York in 1953. Later he graduated in music from Durham University, He taught at the Royal Academy of Music and at the universities of London and Manchester before moving to the Pennine village of Delph to concentrate on composing. Walker writes "This cantata imagines an anxious Handel appealing to his Soul - his better self that he has lost - to appear to him and to comfort him. The Soul appears but is evasive and in anger tells Handel to stop his self pity and when he finaly takes these words to heart is promised a future of true delight'.
