As our world gradually becomes a global village and people travel more and more to distant countries, so there is greater interest in the music of strange lands: different peoples, different customs.

Music making is inspired by a variety of melody in folk music and influenced by its exciting rhythms, notably the widely played and sung Russian, Polish, Slavonic, Roumanian and Bulgarian. Hungarian and Israeli music too can provide a stimulating material for music makers. In Folklore for Fun, folk music from Hungary, Bulgaria and Israel is blended together in a free arrangement, adding to the standard recorder ensemble percussion, guitar and metallophone. The result is rather relaxed in mood, with a Swing feel.

Albrecht Rosenstengel studied at the Cologne University of Music.  He then worked as a teacher in Hamm.  From 1962 he worked as a lecturer and later as a professor at the Freiburg University of Education. His work includes cantatas, instrumental music and songs for choirs. For musical education in schools he composed a cheerful picture cantata for youth choir, piano, rhythmic instruments and a jazz group.

Score: 23 pages. 6 parts @ 4 pages ea except for Metallphone @ 1 page.
