The present concerto is the original version of a work which has become well known as number 6 of Vivaldi's set of flute concerti Opus 10. The Opus 10 concerti were published by Le Cene in Amsterdam in 1729 or 30, but only one seems to have been composed expressly for publication. The remainder were arrangements of works previously composed for both flute and treble recorder.

NB: The realisation of the basso continuo is by Dr Robert Paul Block. It extends to parts when the string bass instruments are silent and may be omitted here at the discretion of the performer. David Lasocki. Iowa City, Iowa, USA. August 1969.

Antonio Vivaldi: (4 March 1678 – 28 July 1741) was an Italian composer, virtuoso,  violinist and impresario of Baroque music. Regarded as one of the greatest Baroque composers, Vivaldi's influence during his lifetime was widespread across Europe, giving origin to many imitators and admirers. He pioneered many developments in orchestration, violin technique and programmatic music. He consolidated the emerging concerto form, especially the solo concerto, into a widely accepted and followed idiom.
