Georg Philipp Telemann (24 March - 14 March] 1681 – 25 June 1767) was a German Baroque composer and multi-instrumentalist He is one of the most prolific composers in history, at least in terms of surviving oeuvre. Telemann was considered by his contemporaries to be one of the leading German composers of the time.

Why eulogise yet again Telemann's Trio writing? Why want to interpret and analyze what compositional subtleties, instrumental felicities and 'essential graces' the hero of music' lavished on this Sonata? Faced with this lovely piece of music we refrain from further commentary and let the poet Telemann speak for himself:

A movement with witchery in its lines

Methinks, when the page

offers many difficult paces

this ti music makers is usually a burden

During which we often

feel many grimaces.

And further as I see it:who is useful to many

does better than he

who only writes a few;

that which in easy setting lies

serves everyone in turn:

The best will therefore be

with this to rest content.
