'Alexander's Latin' for recorder and piano or guitar (percussion ad lib) is the first part in a new series of light-hearted tutors intended to complement 'classical' instrumental lessons. They will be in various instrumental arrangements and will cover popular styles such as samba, bossa, jazz, pop etc each one demonstrating the form, harmony and rhythm of the particular style. 

Improvisation is an important part of the series. Initial instructions are given for each piece as well as suggestions alongside the music. There are also rhythmic exercises to increase facility with the style and ideas to help prompt spontaneous improvisation.
