Anthony Hedges was born in Bicester, in Oxfordshire in 1931 and studied music at Oxford University. 

Three Concert Miniatures for recorder (descant/tenor/sopranino)and piano, Op 153 was first performed by John Turner (recorders) and Stephen Bettaney (piano) in a lunchtime recital at The Royal Opera House, Covent Garden, London, on 20th June 2005.
