Composer Wolfram Gafgen was born in Stuttgart, Germany in 1965 & learned to play the piano, the recorder, the classical guitar and the viola before in 1983 he started singing and playing the organ. From 1985-89 Gafgen studied Protestant sacred music in Wurzburg. In the following year, from 1990 to 91, he was an extramural student of improvisation and organ music in Saarbrucken, subsequent to which he received additional training in singing and acting in the city of Wiesbaden. At the same time as he did that he worked a a precentor in Bingerbruck.

In 1993, Wolfram Gafgen's theatrical group Musischer Fahrtenbund Leiterwgen went on their first tours. Since 1994, he has worked as a freelance , focussing on composition, improvisation and singing. In his music theatre cart, he also worked on acting out the character of a medieval singer errant called Wolfram, ein am Karren beharrender Narre. In 1995, he founded an errant group of theatre cars called Karrenpfad.

It is a 'strange encounter' that links up impressionsim and jazz by means of their common stock of tones. The tune traverses constant metamorphoses until, eventually, it results in something new and characteristic. Hence, impressionist passages should be played with emphasis on harmony, whereas in jazz parts it is the rhythmic element that should be stressed.

The piece has also been published in a revised version (EW56) scored for clarinet and piano.
