*21 Dance Tunes.* Instrumental Balli including Ballets, Corrents, Sarabandes and Allemandes.

(Note: Balli was an Italian dance form during the fifteenth century, most noted for its frequent changes of tempo and meter. The name ballo has its origin in Latin meaning "to dance")

The dances here were evidently written by an amateur music-maker or dancing master. They may be performed on soprano or tenor recorders. These compositions serve to enlighten us on the extensive repertoire of instrumental dances constituting part of the Italian Baroque literature, a field that still requires to be penetrated thoroughly.
