Alan Bullard is Lecturer in Music and Head of Composition at Colchester Institute. His wide-ranging list of compositions includes music for orchestra, choir, wind band and a variety of ensembles ad solo instruments. his music is widely performed in Britain ad abroad, and has been broadcast on television and radio. His works for recorder have entered the instrument's standard repertoire, and include the popular Recipes for Recorder (Solo recorder, or recorder and piano (or guitar), Galloway Sketches (for recorder and piano (or guitar) and Winter Landscape for solo recorder (all published by Forsyth). 

Three Diversions was first performed by John Turner(recorders) and Peter Lawson (piano) at a concert organised by Colchester New Music at Woodbridge School, Suffolk on 6th October 1989.
